During a roof inspection, Blackstone is looking at more than broken materials. We also pay attention to unusual openings, movement around edges and signs inside accessible attic areas. Rat droppings on insulation or near rafters are one warning. Chewed vent covers or damaged screens can point to a route through the roof assembly. Gnawed fascia or soffit edges and tile that has been pushed out of position can also leave the roofline vulnerable.
Those clues should be documented, but they are not a substitute for a pest professional’s evaluation. A roofer can identify damaged roofing components and likely openings. The pest team determines whether rodents are active, where they are traveling and what trapping and exclusion work is required.

The order matters. Closing a roof opening before active rodents are trapped and the pest-exclusion plan is complete can leave an animal inside or cause it to search for another weak point. The pest company should inspect, trap as needed and complete its sealing and exclusion work before Blackstone closes out the roofing scope.

What Blackstone repairs after pest work
The final roofing scope depends on what the inspection finds. It may include replacing a chewed or compromised vent cover, repairing gnawed fascia or soffit components within the roofing scope, resetting displaced tile, correcting damaged flashing, or closing roofline gaps with materials suited to the existing system. We document the affected area, explain the repair and focus on restoring weather protection without covering over an unresolved pest issue.
If you notice droppings, scratching sounds, damaged vents or tile movement, avoid climbing onto the roof. Start with an inspection, coordinate the pest-exclusion work, and complete the roofing repair only after the pest team clears the next step.
